Clinton Blames the Gays

August 18th, 2009 at 8:00 am by Floyd Sklaver · No Comments

At a recent conference, gay activist and blogger Lane Hudson interrupted a speech by former President Bill Clinton to ask if he would call for a repeal, right then, of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and the Defense of Marriage Act.

Rather than answer the question directly, Clinton launched into a defense of his actions, telling the audience that Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was passed overwhelmingly by Congress because:

“You couldn’t deliver me any support in the Congress….They raised all kinds of devilment. And all most of you did was to attack me instead of getting me some support in the Congress. Now that’s the truth.”

Actually, that’s a nice way to justify your namby-pamby leadership style, Mr. Clinton.

You can read the transcript of the interaction here.

Alert readers will recall that Lane Hudson was the blogger who first exposed the emails that led to Mark Foley’s humiliating exit from Congress. He followed up his interaction with the former President by calling upon Clinton to champion the repeal of these two discriminatory policies that he signed into law.

What do you think of Hudson’s action? What do you think of President Clinton? What will be his legacy? Just Out wants to hear from you.
