One day after his two-week suspension ended for criticizing coach Todd Haley and “tweeting” gay slurs online, Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has been cut from the team.
The move is significant not only in light of the fact that Johnson was just 75 yards shy of breaking the team’s rushing record, set by former Chief Priest Holmes, but that Johnson was also the subject of an online fan petition to halt his record-breaking run.
Congratulations, Chiefs. Your 1-7 record may not reflect the sentiment, but you’re winners in my book.
