We’re glad you asked! The Men’s Wellness Center (209 SW 4th Ave.) is a veritable beehive of activity, and Just Out has got your back so you can plan ahead and do right.
We all know your own home is boring, so tonight the center is inviting folks to come hang out in their community space, where you’ll find computers, wi-fi, a library of books and DVDs. Remember, the center’s new hours are 3:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Friday, November 13th is Film Fridays from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and is a great way to meet new people, socialize, argue over the theatrical merits of Steven Seagal, or any number of other humanoid activities.
On Saturday, November 14th, the center will have free, rapid HIV-only testing from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on a first come, first served basis.
The Men’s Wellness Center Artist Series is featuring the work of photographer Larry Cwik this month. Cwiks work explores his experiences in Mexico, as well as the celebration of LGBTQ diversity in the Pacific Northwest. The showcase will run through January 1st, 2010. AND, there’s a new “+alk” group for HIV-positive men ages 18-30 on Monday, November 23rd.
“+alk” is a five-week program for HIV-positive men designed to reduce stress around talking about HIV status. For further information on +alk, or to sign up, email Josh Ferrer at jferrer@cascadeaids.org.
ALSO, the Cascade AIDS Project’s outreach volunteers City Guys are looking for more volunteers. Duties include handing out safer sex material such as condoms, lube and informative brochures, and more. If you’re interested, contact Joseph at 503-278-3861 or by email at jsullivan@cascadeaids.org.
