Still skeptical of the magical properties of reindeer? Think that Rudolph, and Dasher are myths? What about the long-forgotten sleigh-tugger Frosty? Well, sometimes magic is in the eye of the beholder, and you’ll have your own opportunity to make a wise and informed decision in the coming week.
Rudolph, Frosty, and Dasher will be making appearances at Dennis’ 7 Dees Garden Centers – first on Sunday, December 6th at the Cedar Hills Garden Center (10455 SW Butner Rd.), then on Friday, December 11th at the Lake Oswego Garden Center (1090 McVey Ave.).
Details below:
The public is invited to meet the two reindeer on display for that location (varies by date / location) from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at each location. Holiday treats will be provided as well as a drawing to win a Holiday Wreath – great for decorating your home or to give as a gift.
Rudolph – the most famous reindeer of all – and his compatriots Frosty and Dasher, are among a number of these animals which make their home at Timberview Farm, located in the Mohawk Valley east of Springfield, Oregon. Reindeer are related to the caribou and are most commonly found in colder regions above 60 degrees north latitude. Reindeer can be found in all of the 48 contiguous United States and Canada and are used for work by people in Scandinavia, Russia and Mongolia.
The reindeer appearances will give adults, most of who have never seen a reindeer in the wild, a chance to meet and learn about these unique hoofed animals. For children, the opportunity to see Rudolph, Frosty and Dasher live will help convince them that reindeer really exist – even if they may not be able to fly.
In other news, organizers have ensured that Portland Americana group Blitzen Trapper will not be attending either event after the roots of their morbid moniker became a rallying cry for Reindeer Rights Coalitions the world over.

The only thing I’m skeptical of is promoting 7 Dees. Check out their history of treatment toward gay employees.
