Jonesin’ for a venue to groove and swing to the timeless tunes of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, and more? Free this Saturday, December 5th from 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.? Then we’re gonna have to ask you to get your jumpin’, jivin’ behinds out to Oak Parks Historic Dance Pavilion (7805 SE Oaks Park Way) for the 8th Annual Holiday Affair with Rose City Swing!
Picture this: a criminally swingin’ jazz band strikes up at 8:00 p.m. on the dot. You sample the libation line at the no-host beer and wine bar, and after gulping a little down for social lubricant, get to shaking your money-maker all the live-long noisy night. Who knows? Maybe you’ll meet a fella or lady to accompany your rug-cutting regimen – your Ginger Rodgers or Fred Astaire for the evening. Sounds right up your alley, does it not?
Tickets can be purchased here for $15 in advance, or you can wait and pay $18 at the door. Either way, you’re helping a good cause, too. As the Rose City Swing Web site posits:
Rose City Swing is a non-profit organization that has been enriching the lives of LGBTQ musicians and music lovers in the Portland-metro area since 1993. Our musicians are passionate volunteers, not paid performers.
Directions to the event can be found here.
