Actor Ron Livingston Sues Wikipedia Over Gay Rumors

December 7th, 2009 at 2:15 pm by Ryan Prado · 1 Comment

An aggressive counter-attack from Ron Livingston – best known for his roles in Sex and the City, Office Space and Swingers -  for repeated hacker edits on his Wikipedia profile, as well as the creation of a fake Facebook account claiming the actor is gay, is resulting in a lawsuit for libel, invasion of privacy, and unauthorized use of likeness.

Livingston married a woman named Rosemarie DeWitt earlier this year, but a dedicated Wikipedia editor changes the entry frequently with claims that Livingston is being totally gay with someone named “Lee Dennison.”

Most in the blogosphere agree that the lawsuit will only add fuel to the flame, so to speak.

The fact that controversies like this imply being gay is a horrific allegation aside, Queerty points out that now Livingston’s page is guaranteed to devote a section to gayness regardless of the outcome of the case. Which is kind of a total win for the “hacker.”

The power of fake media is mighty indeed.

Perhaps this tool should be more concerned about his non-existent career, rather than who the general public thinks he might be attracted to.

And where is Tom Cruise with his much needed advice and well-worn copy of Dianetics????
