FAT FANCY! A vintage and designer plus-size boutique! Just sit with the utter brilliance of that one for a bit. Damn, Portland’s a great city.

The fabulously curvy of the Rose City were out in full force at this weekend’s grand opening launch party, in which proprietresses Carlie and Annie showed off their lovely storefront at 1013 SW Morrison. The store was packed, and for good reason — the long-running underground boutique has generated a loyal following of fashionistas to carry the Fat Fancy banner.

The opening festivities were followed up by a Hairspray!-themed dance party at SE avant-garde art space Worksound featuring local favorite DJ Beyonda spinning obscure soul classics. All manner of local celebrities were spotted in ’50s finery, including Just Out editrix Amanda Schurr rocking a hat that’d make Jackie O drool.
