The Boss Backs Gay Marriage in New Jersey

December 9th, 2009 at 10:44 am by Ryan Prado · No Comments

Arguably the most popular person to have ever stomped the hallowed grounds of the Garden State, rock ‘n’ roll deity Bruce Springsteen has come forward on his Web site professing his complete support of passing gay marriage in his home state of New Jersey.

Like many of you who live in New Jersey, I’ve been following the progress of the marriage-equality legislation currently being considered in Trenton. I’ve long believed in and have always spoken out for the rights of same sex couples and fully agree with Governor Corzine when he writes that, “The marriage-equality issue should be recognized for what it truly is — a civil rights issue that must be approved to assure that every citizen is treated equally under the law.” I couldn’t agree more with that statement and urge those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now.

Apparently, Governor-elect in New Jersey, Chris Christie, is a big Springsteen fan. Christie has promised to veto a gay marriage bill should it come to his desk when he takes office next month.

OUCH! Oooohhhh, boy it stings when your heroes leave you hangin’, don’t it, Christopher? And don’t even try switching it up. Tom Waits isn’t accepting haters.

In other news: Like we needed another reason to exalt Bruce Springsteen to the upper echelons of worldwide worship?! Give us a break, Boss! YOU’RE TOO GOOD TO US. Youre on fire? Please; we are ashes beneath your E Street boots.

And thank you for writing Nebraska.
