Back in November, President and Mrs. Obama hired Simon Doonan, the openly gay Creative Director of Barney’s, to decorate the White House for the holidays.
Yesterday his tree in the Blue Room was unveiled and it includes ornaments that are making the Rabid Right foam at the mouth.
Among Doonan’s choices are an ornament that reproduces Andy Warhol’s portrait of Chinese leader Chairman Mao, and an ornament signed by NYC drag performer Hedda Lettuce, whose website says she’s delighted to have “the most famous ball in the nation.”
According to Boston’s Edge Magazine:
Doonan’s designs have rankled the right on previous occasions, as when he created a Christmas window display depicting Margaret Thatcher as “a dowdy dominatrix” and former U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle as “a ventriloquist’s dummy.”
The White House is open to the public to view all the Christmas decorations tomorrow.

How much did it cost to hire this person? I mean the content may be offensive to some but I would like to know what it cost us to hire this person.

My concern is for the entire cost of decorating the White House when we have people starving in this country
