Gay Couple Arrested in Africa for Gay Marriage

As the global pressure tightens on pending legislation in Uganda for a proposed anti-gay law that would include penalties of death and life imprisonment for the engagement of homosexual acts, a Malawi gay couple has been arrested after their December 26th wedding ceremony. They have been charged with “gross public indecency.”

The Dec. 26 ceremony celebrated the union of Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza. Malawi law punishes sexual acts between consenting adults of the same gender with prison sentences of up to 14 years.

“We arrested them last night at their home and charged them with gross public indecency because the practice is against the law,” said Dave Chingwalu, a spokesperson for the Malawi police.

I wonder what Madonna thinks of this malady? Actually, I take that back. I couldn’t care less.
