The results from last summer’s Speak Out 2009 survey – which tapped 843 respondents in the county’s LGBTQ community – were released during a presentation at Q Center on April 1st at Q Center. The Multnomah County Health Department hoped to educate health providers and policy makers about factors related to health and well-being across sexual orientation and gender identity, with a focus on broader community responsibility for promoting wellness.
Those results will be the subject of a panel discussion Tuesday, April 6th, at the Portland State Office Building (800 NE Oregon St., Room 1E) from noon – 1 p.m. The panel – part of Oregon Public Health Week Speakers’ Series – will include several of MCHD’s major contributors to the survey, and to the findings therein.
“This new LGBTQI health information will help address health inequity and gives us a roadmap for structural, community, and individual-level changes,” said MCHD Director Lillian Shirley via press release.
