Jose Luis Navarro and Miguel Angel Calefato – an architect and a retired office worker, respectively – became the first same-sex couple to wed under Argentina’s newly legalized same-sex marriage law. The couple have been partners for 27 years.
The law took effect just this morning, and was signed into law on July 21.
According to the Washington Post, another pair wed a few hours later in Buenos Aires, and at least three more couples are scheduled to marry over the weekend.
