Sara Gilbert – oh, you know, that lovable angst-ridden teenager Darlene from Roseanne and the engaging if not nerdy vinyl junky Anna Moss from High Fidelity – recently spoke at the Television Critics Association panel in Los Angeles, the first time she’s addressed being gay in public. Gilbert and her partner, television producer Allison Adler, are raising two children, son Levi Hank, 6, and 3-year-old daughter Sawyer.
Gilbert was recently announced by CBS as one of six women who will co-host a new talk show called…The Talk, however the details of her personal life were not mentioned in the initial press release.
She was apprehensive about speaking on the panel, and told moderators that the decision not to include her partner in the discussion was hers.
“It just seemed impersonal, and I felt like I’d rather come in person and talk to you about all that stuff here,” she said.
Gilbert added that talking about her personal life wasn’t going to be easy.
“This is a whole new world for me,” she said. “I’m not an expert on this, or I don’t analyze these things.”
On Top Magazine reports that joining Gilbert in co-hosting The Talk will be celebrity personalities Julie Chen (The Early Show, Big Brother), Holly Robinson Peete (21 Jump Street, Celebrity Apprentice), Sharon Osbourne (The Osbournes), Leah Remini (The King of Queens) and Marissa Jaret Winokur (Hairspray, Just Shoot Me!). The six women will discuss pop culture and news events through a “mom’s view.”
The new show is expected to debut in October.
