Oregon Attorney General John Kroger announced earlier today that he was opening an
investigation into Portland mayor Sam Adams’ admission that he had sexual relations with Beau Breedlove, a young man Adams met when he was 17 years old for “political mentoring.”
The AG’s office also released this statement to the media a few hours ago:

STATEMENT OF THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
Yesterday evening, Multnomah County District Attorney Michael D. Schrunk and Portland Chief of Police Rosanne M. Sizer requested that the Oregon Department of Justice undertake a criminal investigation of matters pertaining to Portland Mayor Sam Adams that have recently come to public attention. The Department of Justice has agreed to do so. The investigation will be thorough, fair, and professional. Under our system of laws, all persons are presumed innocent until proven otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The Department of Justice has no further comment at this time.

I suspect you’d rather have the attorney general ignore investigating a possible crime? I believe that’s his job and he’s doing it.
