Portland’s queer community center is movin’ on out – to the north side.
As announced by executive director Kendall Clawson at this past Saturday’s Mayor’s Winter Gala, the Q Center is pulling up their inner Southeast Portland roots and moving out to North Portland: to a 6,454 square foot building at 4115 N. Mississippi Avenue, to be exact.
More details on the Center’s new location (and what other queer businesses are hopping in bed with the Center at their new home), when the move will all be going down, and what this means for queer Portland in this Friday’s Feb. 6 Just Out street edition.

Very cool…walking distance for me.

I’m not excited about this move. Wasn’t the plan for the Q Center to be a place for the community to go? Moving far away from central-area PDX is the wrong move. It’s better to have a smaller, yet broadly accessible space than to be solidly out in one of the quadrants.
