Equity Foundation and Pride Foundation are partnering to celebrate sexual minority youth and allies at the second annual QueerCore Youth Awards from 2 to 4 p.m. April 4 at Q Center, 4115 N. Mississippi Ave.
The event will honor several queer youth and allies from Portland and Southwestern Washington, between the ages of 15 and 21.
Many leaders in the queer community, including Q Center executive director Kendall Clawson, Basic Rights Oregon executive director Jeana Frazzini, BRO development coordinator Juan Martinez, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) Portland president Dawn Holt and Equity Foundation supporters Curtis Meyers, Frank Schreckenberger, and Susie Shepherd, will present awards.
Each youth will be presented with a $100 gift certificate to Lloyd Center and a “star lantern” to recognize their success.
The QueerCore Youth Awards features queer youth performers and free food.
