Congrats to Chris Coleman and Portland Center Stage for another spectacular playwrights festival. They have once again proved why the JAW Festival is one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year. What’s more, the whole festival is FREE.
This 10th annual outing proved just as moving, provocative and intelligent as the others. Besides a workshop production of Storm Large’s tour-de-force, Crazy Enough, there was plenty of queer interest, including a full-length play about trannies (Pony by Sally Oswald) and lesbian characters in Constance Congdon’s post-feminist Paradise Street. All told, 37 different playwrights participated.
And did I mention it was all FREE. Plan to attend next year.
