Wanna catch some theater but low on bread? Head down to Portland Center Stage this Thursday night, July 16, when Artists Repertory Theatre Artistic Director Allen Nause participates in PCS’ Playwrights Festival, JAW.

Allen will be appearing in one of the readings in the Made in Oregon Series, Bad Family by Andrea Stolowitz. Per a press release,

Bad Family is about an angry 15 year-old hell-bent on breaking up her mother and step-father’s already strained marriage. When she steals her mother’s car in order to visit her estranged father in the desert, she sets off a series of domino chain comic events which force the characters to figure out the meaning of family.

The Made in Oregon series, which kicked off last night with Susan Mach’s Lost Boy, features Oregon playwrights for one-night-only readings of works in progress. Admission to all of the JAW readings is free and seating is first come, first served. The reading begins at 6 p.m. on the Armory Mainstage (128 NW 11th). Call PCS for more details, 503-445-3700. Check out the full schedule for JAW, which culminates in the July 24-26 core weekend of events, here.
