The folks at Basic Rights Oregon are stepping up their Marriage Matters canvassing program and need your help. Per a BRO press release,
This summer Basic Rights Oregon and The Bus Project are teaming up to talk to 15,000 Oregonians about marriage. It’s the largest marriage equality education project that our community has ever undertaken outside of a ballot measure.
To win public support for the freedom to marry, we need to open up a real dialogue with regular Oregonians. This means talking to people face-to-face, and explaining why marriage matters to committed gay and lesbian couples.
BRO is hiring a team of experienced canvassers to engage in direct voter contact concerning marriage equality. The PAID 2-3 week, door-to-door project requires “strong problem-solving and communication skills, the ability to interface and empathize with people whose views may be very different from your own, accurate data reporting, and a desire to end inequality.” Paid canvass teams begin this Saturday, August 1.
Submit resume and cover letter immediately to BroSummerCanvass2009@gmail.com. Students, sexual minorities, people of color and youth are encouraged to apply.
